What is “Neurodivergent” ? Why is it important?

To be neurodivergent means that the way you think deviates from the norm. Meanwhile, most of the population is neurotypical (NT) (about 80%); therefore many times someone who is neurodivergent (ND) is sidestepped and ostracized. Being (ND) is no easy task, most individuals are forced to mask. Masking is a ND person’s way of concealing parts of themselves that society would deem unacceptable. It’s a way to fit in but it can be very exhausting and can burnout. This burnout can set someone back for weeks, months, even years at a time.
